16/10/10 Barcelona 2-1 Valencia CF
(Iniesta 47, Puyol 63; Pablo Hernández 38)
Josep Guardiola made five changes to the team that drew 1-1 with RCD Mallorca on 3 October, Carles Puyol, Maxwell, Xavi, Sergio Busquets and David Villa all coming in. Villa faced his former side for the first time, while Puyol's winner was his eighth goal in 335 Liga appearances for Barça.
17/10/10 Copenhagen 5-0 Odense BK
(Santin 4 37 60, Vingaard 20, N'Doye 90+5)
Cesar Santin's second hat-trick for FCK earned a commanding victory over an OB side that had begun the weekend in third. Three up at half-time, coach Stale Solbakken opted to rest Zdenek Pospech for the second period.
Barcelona Coach Pep Guardiola is certainly keen on preventing his players from underestimating Copenhagen, whereas their young star Lionel Messi is adamant that they must beat Copenhagen despite fatigue. Barcelona will be without their star midfielder Xavi, who is out on injury heaping all the pressure on Iniesta, a feat he has managed to handle quite magnificently with consistent performance in the past games.
Copenhagen on the other hand will be depending on their Senegalese star striker Dame Ndoye to bag all the three points for them. He did in a previous match against Rubin Kazan, where the Danish team won 1-0. Despite winning all the games in the group stage, Copenhagen are yet to prove themselves against the mighty Barca, who is by far the the best them in the group with their impressive passing game. Every defenders nightmare, they just keep hustling and hustling for the ball! Watch this game and you will see what I’m talking about.
FC Copenhagen has done a lot better than expected in group D, where they are the current group leaders after winning the first 2 games. The team is in a class of its own in the Danish SuperLiga, and the team has 10 wins and 2 draws in the first 12 games. With the recent success int he Champions League, it is expected that FC Copenhagen will enter Camp Nou with a ton of self confidence.
